Actor Channing Tatum has joked that he would do all manner of unspeakable things, including killing kittens, to be able to make a standalone Gambit movie. It’s been almost five years since a Star Wars movie was in theaters, but that’s going to change in 2026 when The Mandalorian & Grogu arrives just in time for the 49th anniversary of the franchise. At D23, fans discovered that the film has already started production, and the first footage was screened for the crowd.Because the movie has only been shooting for a few weeks, there wasn’t a lot to show off. Lucasfilm started with a flashback to the first meeting of Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and Grogu from the first episode of The Mandalorian. When Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (DRDR) was revealed, I was confused–despite its name–about whether to consider it a remaster or a remake. The line has become increasingly blurred in recent years, with things like the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and The Last of Us Part I being called remakes even though they seem to be more akin to admittedly extravagant coats of new paint.After several hours with DRDR, it’s now clear to me that this is a project much like those two examples. It’s inch-by-inch faithful to the original in most ways, and includes some great quality-of-life updates, but also retains the original game’s faults. And yet, when I’m playing it, I can’t shake the feeling that it remains an imperfect classic.

These new projects–one of which is being developed in Unreal Engine 5–will be made with input from Halloween’s original director John Carpenter, and both of them are being produced at Boss Team, the studio behind the recent Evil Dead: The Video Game.”As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly,” Carpenter said to IGN, adding that he’ll be “intimately involved” with the development of the games. Prey and Redfall developer Arkane Austin became a casualty of a particularly brutal year of layoffs and studio closures, as one of four studios Microsoft closed down in May this year.
